‘Evaluate’ is an art piece made for MACA Amsterdam Museumnacht 2024. It includes visuals made with Touch designer and audio made with a eurorack synthesizer.

‘Evaluate’ is a performance by Daan Bothof (musical alias Dan Graveyard) and it entails a generative expression of music, which is more primal, and visuals, which is a relatively new medium. The audio is created using only hardware, Turing machine logic and Brownian math. (Similar to a coin toss) The visuals are generated by everything leading up to AI. Similar to Brownian math, but using computed randomness to decide what route to explore. The audio interacts with the visual and the visuals interplays with the audio. The merging of the two is where it get’s exciting, unpredictable and unrepeatable. The piece is called ‘Evaluate’, because the two mediums are trying to evaluate each other and make a decision based on that.

‘Evaluate’ is a 15 minute recording of a live performance that is completely improvised by the machine and Daan Bothof. Adding himself to the mix to steer the ship.
